The word deconfinement is a term found in the study of physics that refers to a state of matter in which it can move freely. For the average person this may manifest in their life as backpacking trips, or long car rides, the idea of motion being central to their personal creativity and satisfaction. For others home is escape, allowing for free movement of creative ideas without the prying eyes of societal pressure. In this show we endeavor to explore the latter by showcasing the possibilities of a home studio.

Sweet Deconfinement will exhibit works by Atlas Burnham and Will Dayer. Visitors beware; this show contains sewn fabric works to be caressed and expressive cartoonish scenes. Will’s work invites viewers to observe illustrative detail and painterly style while simultaneously examining a broader comical tone. While Atlas’s handsewn “children” encourage you to rekindle your love of play with soft dolls and squishy monsters. Visitors are also welcome to listen to a short presentation by the artists at 8pm.
