JOIN US!! The first solo exhibition from artist Isabelle Pipa features a skateboarding-centered collection of pieces with pop art and design elements. Titled ‘Big Girl Space’, the show seeks to depict marginalized skaters and beings as using their “space” comfortably and freely, without being ashamed of their movement.
With a focus on size and scale, the series of painted skateboards and canvases is a discussion of just how skateboarding and art can both provide an inclusive environment when reclaimed by those who have felt alienated or “in the way” at skate parks or in artistic communities.
Isabelle is an art and sociology student at the University of Vermont and loves to skate, whether it be at the Banks in Albany or at A-Dog park in Burlington.
